“Mindful eating replaces self-criticism with self-nurturing. It replaces shame with respect for your own inner wisdom.”
— Jan Chozen Bays
When we take the time to reflect on our relationship with food and our bodies, we can uncover deeper connections to our stories and the ways in which we think, believe, and behave. Our eating habits, whether nourishing or neglectful, can be indicative of our relationship with ourselves.
By cultivating a gentle and compassionate self-awareness, with a focus on nutrition, we can unlock transformative potential. This process not only benefits our physical health, but it can also help us apply the power of self-compassion to our life stories and how we present ourselves to the world.
One of my passions is guiding individuals on this journey of self awareness and discovery, helping them see themselves through the lens of love instead of shame. My ultimate goal is to nurture each person, so that they can learn how to nurture themselves – a practice that allows us to connect with love and self.
Personally, I am in recovery and healing from childhood trauma, religious trauma, and disordered eating. My healing journey has included many years of trauma informed therapy, really hard personal work and relearning how to be at home in my already good body and relate to myself with compassion and kindness. So whether I coach a client in improving health or facilitate a yoga class–my healing informs my compassion, boundaries, and how I help someone. I am constantly learning and attuning to the wisest most loving part of myself.
I am a published author, and currently working on my second book: Already Good, How Diet Culture and Religion Exploit Our Human Desire For Worth and Belonging, is currently in the works. I live at home with my best friend/ husband, Michael of 25 years, and our four young adult children.
As a coach, counselor, teacher, and writer, I have found that my greatest joy comes from aiding individuals in their transformative journey towards healing. In 2020, I pursued my passion for nutrition and began coaching clients privately and meet clients virtually and in the office at The Aftermath Agency. My services include teaching classes and workshops on Healthy Habits and Intuitive Eating, leading mindful eating practices, and providing 1-on-1 coaching. I facilitate Trauma Sensitive and Restorative Yoga Classes. Additionally, I offer group cooking classes and nutrition education.
If you partner with me, rest assured that I won't weigh or measure you or prescribe a diet. My approach to health and nutrition coaching is rooted in individualized, compassionate curiosity, clear goals, and mind/body/soul integration/transformation. Gentle and consistent care for your health, body, and mind is my goal.
Let’s improve the health of your relationship with food, your body, and yourself.
Give yourself the gift of self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-appreciation, self-compassion, self-affection, and self-advocacy.
